Growing inequality in systems showing Zipf’s law

چکیده
Abstract A central problem in economics and statistics is the assessment of income or wealth inequality starting from empirical data. Here we focus on behavior Gini index, one most used measures, presence Zipf’s law, a situation which occurs many complex financial economical systems. First, show that application asymptotic formulas to finite size systems always leads an overestimation inequality. We thus compute corrections depending exponent two distinct regimes can be observed: low inequality, where index less than maximal asymptotically tends its value one. In both cases, expanding system slowly increases just as effect growth, with scaling never faster inverse size. test our computations real systems, US cities cryptocurrency market, observing cases increase completely explained by law expanding. This shows growing effects must considered order properly assess if increasing due natural growth processes it produced change structure Finally discuss how such carefully when analyzing survey

Growing Inequality: Bridging Complex Systems, Population Health and Health Disparities
I sometimes ponder on the practical effect of the many words written on ‘public health’. And then I wonder, perhaps uncharitably, how many are merely a re-hash of what has already been said. So when a new book had not one, but four, concepts in the title, I was tempted to think that there might be something new, perhaps at the intersection of the four. Or was it another re-working of current kn...
متن کاملShowing that the race model inequality is not violated.
When participants are asked to respond in the same way to stimuli from different sources (e.g., auditory and visual), responses are often observed to be substantially faster when both stimuli are presented simultaneously (redundancy gain). Different models account for this effect, the two most important being race models and coactivation models. Redundancy gains consistent with the race model h...
متن کاملSociological Inequality and the Second Law
There are two fair ways to distribute particles in boxes. The first way is to divide the particles equally between the boxes. The second way, which is calculated here, is to score fairly the particles between the boxes. The obtained power law distribution function yields an uneven distribution of particles in boxes. It is shown that the obtained distribution fits well to sociological phenomena,...
متن کاملIT, Corporate Payouts, and the Growing Inequality in Managerial Compensation
Three of the most fundamental changes in US corporations since the early 1970s have been (1) the increase in the importance of organizational capital in production, (2) the increase in managerial income inequality, and (3) the increase in payouts to the owners. There is a unified explanation for these changes: The arrival and gradual adoption of information technology since the 1970s has stimul...
متن کاملThe Fractal Nature of Inequality in a Fast Growing World
In this paper we investigate wealth inequality/polarization properties related to the support of the limit distribution of wealth in innovative economies characterized by uninsurable individual risk. We work out two simple successive generation examples, one with stochastic human capital accumulation and one with R&D, and prove that intense technological progress makes the support of the wealth...
